Thought to be based on an ancient Indian game that was adapted by the British, the first reference to "Ludo" appeared in the late 1800's.
This modern version is based on the Ludo game from the 1920's.
The aim of the game is to move the counters from the starting position to "home" in the centre of the board, by rolling the dice to advance on the track. The player who first gets four counters home is the winner.
