Australian Vintage Posters
These faithfully reproduced James Northfield Australian Vintage Posters, under license from the James Northfield Heritage Trust, celebrate the legacy of his prolific creation of Australian tourism posters of mid last century
James Northfield is an important part of Australian design and early advertising history. Described as 'Australia's most capable poster artist' by the Art Training Institute of Melbourne, it was his excellent sense of design that enabled his talent to prosper during the remarkable growth of advertising in Australia following the First World War.
Northfield produced a vast body of work between the 1920s until the 1950s, including travel posters, army recruiting and peace bond posters, designs for many iconic products and for national events.
Unfortunately, despite the fact that the imagery he created assisted in formulating what we now see today as the 'Australian Identity', James Northfield is virtually unknown for his work. But, we love him anyway... some talent is just too good to pass up!
Why not include on of his charming prints in your home to celebrate the ares of Australia you love?
