If this set of classic cuisenaire rods looks familiar, they probably are and you might have used almost identical ones at school. These rod sets are made here in Australia by the same company who have been making them since 1970!
Originally made by Cuisenaire Rods Co of Australia P/L, these are still being made the same old way, using Australian timber sourced as close to the factory as possible.
These wooden number rods were invented by Belgium school teacher Georges Cuisenaire, who wrote a book about them in 1952 (Les Nombres en couleurs), the coloured rods have long been helping children learning maths in schools and at home.
